Every Pool Needs a
Focal Point
The Landfare Way
Where Architecture Meets Water
Landfare Ltd. is a premier pool contractor. Our installed and renovated pools in Upper Arlington, Dublin, Grandview & Powell, Ohio are more than rectangles of blue. They are backdrops for life. Inspired by timeless design and Palm Springs ease, we build pools with a focal point that draws the eye and anchors the space.
Every choice matters:
-
Hand-cut limestone terraces instead of stamped concrete.
-
6,000 psi concrete structures that outlast fiberglass and plaster shells.
-
Fire features and fountains that turn evening into theater.
We don’t build what’s trendy. We build what belongs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose Landfare for a custom pool? Every pool we design is a bespoke centerpiece, built with premium materials, precision engineering, and artistic vision. We combine aesthetic impact with lasting durability to create pools that are as timeless as the homes they surround.
What makes Landfare Ltd.’s stonework different from other pool builders? John Spayde, Principal & Designer, shares, “Stonework is both structural and ornamental.” Where many builders use stone as a veneer, Landfare builds with it as a true foundation. Every wall, coping, and terrace is tied into the engineering of the pool, not applied afterward. This craftsmanship ensures that details remain aligned, stable, and beautiful long after installation.
What is the design process like when working with Landfare? Unlike pool contractors who hand you a template, Landfare begins with discovery and dialogue. John and the team look at how you use your home, where the best light falls, and what architectural features define your property. From there, designs evolve slowly and deliberately. As John says: “It’s about making the pool belong. Not just in the backyard, but to the home itself.”
How do you balance beauty and practicality in pool design? Landfare pools are as much about daily living as they are about beauty. John often speaks of “a cup of coffee by the spa on a fall morning” or the glow of fire beside water on a crisp evening. We design for those small rituals as much as for entertaining—blending practicality with the artistry of stone, water, and light.
What makes Landfare’s skimmer installation unique? Skimmers are often an overlooked detail—but at Landfare, they are engineered and finished as carefully as the pool itself. Each skimmer is fully encapsulated in concrete and reinforced with steel, preventing sagging or cracks. The throat is tiled for easier cleaning and elegance. We also conceal the lid with matching stone so it disappears seamlessly into the deck. It’s a small innovation, but one that reflects our commitment to detail.
How does Landfare approach pool rehabs? Rehabs often reveal the shortcuts of other builders—painted or plaster surfaces breaking down, fiberglass walls staining from poor chemistry, heaters failing from acidic water. Landfare pools are often all-concrete shells with stone finishes. If we do take on a rehab, it begins with uncovering the root cause—whether water balance, inferior materials, or neglect—and rebuilding the pool to Landfare’s standards of permanence.
What is a spool, and why might I consider one? A spool is a hybrid between a spa and a pool—crafted with custom concrete shells, encapsulated jets, and designed for year-round comfort. Water can be heated to 90°F in fall or winter, offering therapy and relaxation even as the seasons change. Like all Landfare projects, spools are engineered to the same standards as our full-scale pools.
What should I know about waterfalls and water features? Traditional spa spillways can cause frustration—they cool water and require hours of reheating. Instead, Landfare recommends alternatives like bubblers, aerators, or telescoping fountains. These create dynamic movement and sculptural beauty without sacrificing usability. With a switch, water features can appear or vanish—preserving both elegance and function.
